PICKLEBALL FUN COMMUNITY (PFC): 🩵 EISC Mini-DUPR Team Doubles Round-Robin Tournament 2025

  • Player Level: DUPR Rating < 3.9 (Pool B) and > 4.0 (Pool A)

  • Player Age: Any Age

  • DUPR Rating: Match Results will be added in Pickleball FUN Community DUPR. We will help set up your Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR) account. DUPR is the most accurate and only global rating system in Pickleball.

  • Warm Up: 6:30 pm - 6:45 pm

  • Competition Time: 6:45 pm - 10:30 pm

ROUND ROBIN MATCH PLAY:

  • If you don't have a partner for your team, we will help find you one.
  • 2 pools will be created, with the top 4 teams of each pool going into a finals series.
  • Matches will be played with the winning team being the first to reach 11 points or once 10 all, 2 ahead can be played out until time runs out.
  • Each match will have a max time frame of 15 minutes.
  • At the end of each match the score must be added by a player of each doubles pairing in the Tournament match schedule feature of the OpenSports app and confirmed by a player of the other doubles pairing.
  • If there is a score dispute by a particular doubles match then a player for each doubles pairing will need to talk to Jay McLean to solve the matter and agree to a final result.
  • The app will provide a real-time scoreboard for ALL players to see and these standings are what we will follow towards the finals series. So all match results must be fully updated after each game.

FINALS:

  • There will be semi-finals and then placings-finals with the top 4 teams on that night's standings leaderboard of the tournament app for each pool.
  • Semi-Finals: for each pool, Team 1 plays Team 4 and Team 2 plays Team 3 in the semi-finals knockout.
  • Placings-Finals: Winners of the Semi-Finals will play for 1st Placing, while the other 2 losing teams will play for 3rd Placing.
  • Other team players can still matchplay or focus on specific drills on the remaining 2 courts otherwise relax and watch the finals.

POINTS SYSTEM:

  • 3 points will be awarded to a team for a win, 1 point for a loss.
  • A leaderboard/rankings of the matches will be provided in real-time within the OpenSports app Tournament section (assuming all match results have been entered and approved)

SUBSTITUTE PLAYERS:

  • If a team member is unable to play a substitute can be arranged. Every effort should be made by the team to find a substitute with a similar level of ability to that of the unavailable player.

** TO ENSURE COMPETITIVE MATCHES, AWESOME SPORTSMANSHIP & YOUR SAFETY! **

✅ DO PROPER WARM-UP ACTIVATION EXERCISES BEFORE YOUR SESSION: Warm-up activation exercises are very important to prepare your key muscles for the game and prevent injuries. NOTE: We have a list of activation exercises designed for pickleball which you can get from Jay McLean, just message him directly in OpenSports.

✅ PLAY WITHIN YOUR LIMITS: Do not push yourself beyond your limits. Know your capabilities and play accordingly.

✅ DRINK CONSISTENTLY THROUGHOUT YOUR SESSION: Staying hydrated is important to prevent cramps and other injuries.

✅ BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS: Look out for other players, spectators, and potential hazards on and near the court.

✅ DO NOT PEDAL BACKWARDS TO RETRIEVE BALLS: Avoid running backwards to retrieve balls as this can cause injuries. Instead, turn around and run forward to retrieve the ball.

✅ LET SOME CHALLENGING SHOTS GO: It's okay to give up a point to avoid injury.

✅ FEEDBACK: Ensure your partner is OPEN TO RECEIVING FEEDBACK during a game BEFORE providing any (e.g. would they prefer you waited until a time-out or the end of the game or are they open to receiving suggestions after every single rally?); remember the onus may be on YOU to keep quiet.

✅ DO PROVIDE POSITIVE ENCOURAGEMENT to your partner and even your opponents, if one makes a mistake or does an awesome shot; pumping up each other’s spirits can do wonders for your game!

✅ FORMULATING STRATEGIES (i.e. stacking) with your partner is encouraged but do ensure your partner understands and is comfortable with what is proposed; MOST IMPORTANTLY, allow them to provide feedback on your suggestions, it should NEVER be a “one-way street” as we are ALL learning and hoping to improve. Consider using words like “Can we please consider trying XYZ…” as opposed to “Make sure you do ABC or don’t do XYZ…”

✅ FUNDAMENTALS: It is expected that ALL PLAYERS follow FUNDAMENTAL PICKLEBALL STRATEGIES such as running to the kitchen line after returning serve (RETURN & RUN), SERVE & STAY strategy, both TRANSITIONING to the kitchen line and most importantly using a COMBINATION of soft and hard shots throughout the game and know when to use it (i.e. not just play as “bangers”).

✅ FUN ENVIRONMENT: WE ALL have off days sometimes when things seem to go wrong no matter what we do; it is up to each and every single player to control their frustration/disappointment/anger and ensure this doesn’t ruin the game for others, whether it’s their partner making the mistakes or themselves. We all must look out for each other and create a safe and fun environment for everyone. 🥰

✅ LASTLY, Don’t be afraid to HAVE AWESOME FUN & HAVE A LAUGH! 🤩🤩
