FUN COED INTERMEDIATE DOUBLES (DUPR: 3.0 - 3.99) WEEKLY LEAGUE WEEK 5

• COED INTERMEDIATE DOUBLES beginning on Wednesday, 19th August (5 Weeks)
• Player Level: Intermediate players with a DUPR Rating of 3.0 to 3.99 only.
• DUPR Rating: Match Results will be added to DUPR under Pickleball FUN Community match results. We will help set up your DUPR account. Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR) is the most accurate and only global rating system in Pickleball.
• Tournament Briefing and Warm Up: 8:00 pm - 8:15 pm
• Competition Time: 8:15 pm - 10:00 pm
• Player Age: Any Age
• Surface Type: Premium Dedicated Indoor Pickleball Courts
• Number of Courts: 3

YOUR LEAGUE PRIZES:

• Exciting prizes await our league winners! The top three teams (6 players) in the league will be awarded FUN medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.

🏆 PICKLEBALL FUN PLAYER REWARDS PROGRAM: 🤑

• It doesn’t matter whether you’re holding a paddle for the first time or working hard to reach the next level. Your involvement matters.
• This isn’t about rewarding only the best players. It’s about recognising the players who show up, get involved and help create the welcoming FUN community we’re proud of.
• Every player, regardless of age or skill level, can earn points and enjoy the chance to win exciting prizes.
• Your entry (and your result) at this event will give you more points towards the Pickleball FUN Player Rewards Program

ROUND ROBIN MATCH PLAY:

• If you don't have a partner for your team, we will help find you one.
• 2 pools will be created; each team from each pool will play each other, at a minimum once during that night.
• Matches will be played with the winning team being the first to reach 11 points; once at 10-all, win by 2 will apply or until time runs out.
• Each match will have a max time frame of 15 minutes.
• At the end of each match, the score must be added by the team player captain of each doubles pairing in the league match schedule feature of the OpenSports app and confirmed by the team player captain of the other doubles pairing.
• If there is a score dispute by a particular doubles match, then a player for each doubles pairing will need to talk to Jay or Renee and/or the host of the session to solve the matter and agree on a final result.
• The app will provide a real-time scoreboard for ALL players to see, and these standings are what we will follow towards the finals series. So all match results MUST BE fully updated after each game.

POINTS SYSTEM:

• 3 points will be awarded to a team for a win, 1 point for a loss.
• A leaderboard/rankings of the matches will be provided in real-time within the OpenSports app Tournament section (assuming all match results have been entered and approved).

FINALS SERIES AND MEDAL MATCHES:

• There will be semi-finals and then placement finals with the top 4 teams on the league's leaderboard in the app.
• Semi-Finals: Team 1 plays Team 4, and Team 2 plays Team 3 in the semi-finals knockout.
• Placement-Finals: Winners of the Semi-Finals will play for 1st Placing, while the other 2 losing teams will play for 3rd Placing.

SUBSTITUTE PLAYERS:

• If a team member is unable to play, a substitute can be arranged. The team should make every effort to find a substitute with a level of ability comparable to that of the unavailable player.

OTHER IMPORTANT ITEMS (SAFETY):

• FUN ENVIRONMENT: WE ALL have off days sometimes when things seem to go wrong no matter what we do; it is up to every single player to control their frustration/disappointment/anger and ensure this doesn’t ruin the game for others, whether it’s their partner making the mistakes or themselves. We all must look out for each other and create a safe and fun environment for everyone. 🥰
• DO PROPER WARM-UP ACTIVATION EXERCISES BEFORE YOUR SESSION: Warm-up activation exercises are very important to prepare your key muscles for the game and prevent injuries. NOTE: We have a list of activation exercises designed for pickleball, which you can get from Jay McLean. Just message him directly in OpenSports.
• PLAY WITHIN YOUR LIMITS: Do not push yourself beyond your limits. Know your capabilities and play accordingly. Let some challenging shots go, as it's okay to give up a point to avoid injury.
• DRINK CONSISTENTLY THROUGHOUT YOUR SESSION: Staying hydrated is important to prevent cramps and other injuries.
• BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS: Look out for other players, spectators, and potential hazards on and near the court.
• DO NOT PEDAL BACKWARDS TO RETRIEVE BALLS: Avoid running backwards to retrieve balls as this can cause injuries. Instead, turn around and run forward to retrieve the ball.
