🤔WHICH SKILL LEVEL DO I CHOOSE🤔
If you don’t have a DUPR rating, the skill level chart below will guide you in choosing the correct session for your level.
1.BEGINNER: You recently attended an introduction to pickleball or Come and Try.
2. BEGINNER+: You’ve attended a couple of beginner sessions and are feeling more confident with scoring.
3. SOCIAL: You are confident with the rules and scoring. You implement the Return and Run strategy.
4. SOCIAL+: You are confident with the rules and scoring. You call your own kitchen faults. You want to play social but
with better players. You are working on reducing your unforced errors. You implement the Return and Run strategy.
5. INTERMEDIATE: This is the first level of competitive pickleball. You can handle receiving fast balls. You are familiar
with court positioning strategy. You are confident when volleying at the net and can handle receiving fast drives and
speed-ups. You are aware of the importance of developing a soft game. You are working on incorporating drop shots
and dinks into your game. DUPR 3.0-3.49.
6. INTERMEDIATE+: You meet the intermediate level requirements. You can handle receiving fast balls, speed-ups and
know how to reset. You are familiar with court positioning strategy, including knowing when the serving team should
advance and knowing when to retreat to defend after a pop-up. You also have a soft game with drop shots and dinks.
DUPR 3.5-3.99.
7. ADVANCED: You have a DUPR above 4.0.

👑KING OF THE COURT RULES 👑
• At the start of play, the King’s court as well as the bottom court is chosen
• The type of scoring will be determined for the session e.g. rally or traditional scoring (to 11,15 or 21)
• Players are randomly assigned partners and a starting court.
• If a player and their partner win, they move up one court towards the King Court. If they lose, they move down one
court.
• After moving to a new court, players split/rotate so they play with a new partner.

🌟RALLY SCORING🌟

  • Games are played to 21, win by 2
  • Players choses a side (left or right) & stay on that side for the entire game.
  • Flip a coin/spin a paddle to determine starting team. That team starts serving from right side.
  • The serving team continues serving as long as they win each rally (where they earn a point with each rally won). The
serve alternates between the right-side player and the left-side player,
  • Keep in mind the players do not switch sides of the court when serving, each player stays on either the left side or the
    right side of the court.
  • Once the returning team wins a rally, they win a point and it is their turn to serve.
  • Which player serves is dependent on the score of the serving team. If a team’s score is 0 or an even number like 2 or 12,
the team will serve from the right side of the court. If a team’s score is an odd number, the player on the left side of the
    court will serve
  • The game continues with points being scored and the serve changing sides until 1 team reaches 11 points. When this
happens the teams switch ends of the court.
  • After a team reaches 20 points, that team can only score a point when serving (so if they win a rally as the returning
team with a score of 20, they do not score a point but they do get to serve from the right side of the court with a chance
to score a point and win the game). The other team can continue scoring points while serving or receiving serve until
    they reach 20 points.
  • To summarize, pickleball rally scoring games are played to 21 (sometimes 15), points can be scored by the serving or
returning team, players stay on one side (left or right) of the court and do not rotate sides. And when a team reaches 20
points they can only score points when serving!
