Are you just picking up a volleyball for the first time?

Well Big City has the answer! Get in on the fun, starting April 7!

Big City Volleyball is excited to offer our six-week class designed specifically to teach the fundamentals of volleyball to beginners and players with light experience this winter.

Whether you're looking to knock the rust off from the pandemic or picking up a volleyball for the first time, by the end of our six-week class you'll be well on your way to mastering all the major volleyball skills, including developing a killer serve, handling and “setting” the ball cleanly, court positioning, defense, and of course, spiking!

Class Schedule:

Week 1 (April 8)
Passing & Ball Control
Setting / Reacting to ball movement
Proper serving technique (underhand and/or overhand)
Spiking (proper approach, snapping the wrist, arm extension and follow through)

NO CLASS on April 15 (Good Friday)

Week 2 (April 22)
Defense/Serve Receive (explanation of different defense positions)
Diving and Rolling Drills
Setting, including set to target
Hitting, develop hit direction of the ball with proper swing techniques
Serving (underhand, overhand, introduction to Jump Serve)

Week 3 (April 29)
Setting - introduction to back set & set back row
Hitting - learn outside, middle, back and back row approaches
Blocking fundamentals
Serving – Advanced explanation of Jump Serve

Week 4 (May 6)
Bumping & Digging – ball control and defense against spiked balls
Front Row Attack (setting will be incorporated as well as defense)
Net Play including Blocking, Dinking and Recovering Balls off the Net

Week 5 (May 13)
Emphasis on Court and Game strategy
Review of Court Positions
Rotation & Setter options
Scrimmage

Week 6 (May 20)
Review of previous five weeks
Scrimmage under game conditions, with referee

Time: 7:30 - 9:30pm
Cost: $200 (T-Shirt included)

Please note Big City Volleyball follows strict safety protocols including:

• Masks are optional when playing
• Players will use hand sanitizer before / during / after play
• When not playing all participants must be socially distanced
• Strict cleaning and sanitizing measures
• Health Screening process for participants prior to entering
• Temperature check
• Bring your own water bottle
• No entry without a mask

Please note, a health Questionnaire Form will be sent out 9am day of play that all participants must confirm they do not have COVID symptoms prior to showing up.
