Come join us to enjoy the beauty and serenity of Bead Lake. Expect to paddle for around 3 hours. PFD, whistle, and emergency contact info required. Bring snacks. Parking is very limited, so let's limit attendance to four vehicles and their riders. Please carpool. Parking requires a National Parks Senior Pass or a $5 fee.
Directions: Go to Newport WA. Immediately east of the bridge over the Pend Oreille River, turn north onto LeClerc Road. Go about 2 miles, then turn right onto Bead Lake Road. Go 7 miles and turn right onto Bead Lake Drive (there are two right turns side by side; take the left one). Go a short distance and turn right at the boat launch sign. Participants should have appropriate gear and clothing for any weather. Life jacket and whistle must be worn while on the water. Must have basic safety skills and experience going upside down.
This outing is not appropriate for shorter boats, recreational kayaks, row boats or paddlers who have not yet learned sustained paddling techniques.
