This class is designed for beginners and seasoned paddlers wishing to refine their skills for open water kayaking in lakes and oceans. This course is not for recreational or inflatable kayaks. Be sure to read Clinic Requirements below.

Sat. & Sun. July 9 & 10, 2022, 8:00am-4:30pm
Lake Coeur d'Alene just west of Yap-Keehn-Um Beach
COST: $100 per paddler

Terminology and equipment orientation
Stroke and skills development
Self rescue and assisted rescue
Navigation skills
Safety and Environmental issues
Kayak packing and camping
CLASS REQUIREMENTS:
Properly sized and fitted kayak, with bulkheads or front and rear flotation
Paddle
Spray skirt
PFD, Coast Guard approved
Bilge pump
Paddle float
15 ft. of 1" webbing
Clothes for immersion. YOU WILL GET WET! Wool, polypro, fleece, warm hat, rain gear, wetsuit or dry top/drysuit if possible
Complete change of paddling clothes
Sun hat, sunglasses and sunscreen
Lunch and water
Minimum age 15, accompanied by adult
SCKC membership
