We play pickup street hockey in Quincy on Saturday afternoons. We play year-round, as long as the rink is playable. Starting March 24, 2018, the start time has been moved to 3 pm. If you can't make it then, come when you can. We play for about three hours. We can always use another sub.
Adults only. We're looking for average level players age 18 and up (yes, 30's-40's-50's and up are welcome). We also welcome people who are new to the sport. If you've never played before, you'll pick it up quickly. The goal is to have a good time, socialize, and to get a good workout. This means we are not looking for ultra-competitive people, or A-level players.
It's a pickup game. There's no commitment. We make up teams each week based on whomever shows up. Please bring your sneakers (not roller blades), a stick, water (lots), and light and dark shirts (not grey!) so we can make up teams.
If we get a good turnout, we play at our full-size outdoor rink at Brill Field (corner of Sea Street and Island Ave., Quincy, MA). If it's a smaller turnout, we play at the Perkins Field rink (20 Narragansett Rd, Quincy).
Directions if you're taking the MBTA: Take the Red Line to the Quincy Center station. Transfer to the 216 bus (Hough's Neck). The 216 bus stops directly in front of the Brill Field rink, and a few blocks from the Perkins Field rink.
I make the game call on/off (weather, numbers, etc.) on Saturday morning about 10 a.m. I also make the call about rink location (the large rink or 3/4 size rink) at that time based on the number of Yes responses. Please respond by then if you're coming.
