How to connect your OpenSports group to Stripe

Get set up with automatic payouts

OpenSports uses Stripe, a leading online payment processor, to provide a streamlined and secure way to handle payments for your events, leagues, tournaments, and memberships. This guide will show you how to link your bank account to your OpenSports group and start collecting payments automatically.

  1. From your Group home page on the web, click on Dashboard.
  2. From the left-hand menu, click on Settings. Under the Payments heading, click on Stripe Account.
  3. Select your country from the dropdown list.
  4. Click Link to Bank Account. You will be re-directed to a secure page where you can link your bank account to Stripe Connect so that you can collect payments automatically.
  5. Enter your email and create a password for your Stripe account.
  6. Complete all required fields of the Stripe form (see below).

Account Details

  • If accepting payments personally, select Individual / Sole Proprietorship.
    • Enter your Social Security Number as the tax ID.
  • If accepting payments for your non-profit or student organization and you don’t have a tax ID, select Individual / Sole Proprietorship.
    • Enter the Social Security Number of an organizational board member or executive.
  • If accepting payments for your non-profit or student organization, you must enter the personal details of an authorized board member or organization executive.

Credit Card Statement Details

Make this something that your members will readily recognize as associated with you or your event. For example:

  • Islington Volleyball Association
  • Toronto United Basketball Club
  • Metropolis Pickleball

Note: Only users with the Group Admin role are able to link a group to a bank account through Stripe.
