Why we chose Stripe: Security is taken very seriously

OpenSports uses a payment system called Stripe that is fully integrated with our platform (web + iOS and Android app) so you can seamlessly collect payments at a lower cost than other platforms that help you collect payment for your events.

OpenSports Group Admins are able to easily connect their OpenSports account to their company bank account or their personal bank account, through Stripe Connect. Stripe is the globally trusted brand that handles payments for Kickstarter, Shopify, Facebook, Unicef, Lyft, Target, and hundreds of thousands of more companies. Stripe is one of the most security aware companies.

Why we chose Stripe/ How do you know that this is secure?

Security is taken very seriously

Taken from Stripe’s website:

Anyone involved with the processing, transmission, or storage of card data must comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS). Stripe has been audited by an independent PCI Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) and is certified as a PCI Level 1 Service Provider. This is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry.
PCI compliance is a shared responsibility and applies to both Stripe and your business. When accepting payments, you must do so in a PCI compliant manner. The simplest way for you to be PCI compliant is to never see (or have access to) card data at all. Stripe makes this easy for you as we can do the heavy lifting to protect your customers’ card information.

In short, this means that we (OpenSports) do not see or store or have access to your credit card data on our servers because it is sent directly to Stripe. When you or any player enters credit card data into one of our forms on OpenSports, the credit card data is never sent to the OpenSports server, so we do not handle any sensitive data on our server. This means that a breach of our servers wouldn’t result in any stolen credit card data.

For OpenSports we chose Stripe, because it is easy, safe, stable, and secure, and we are very happy with that decision! If you have any questions of concerns, let us know at contact@opensports.net :)
