Bondi Pickleball Club – Code of Conduct

Purpose

The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to ensure a safe, welcoming, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all members, guests, volunteers, and visitors of Bondi Pickleball Club.

By participating in club activities, all individuals agree to abide by this Code.

1\. Respect and Sportsmanship

All members and participants are expected to:

Treat others with courtesy, fairness, and respect at all times.

Demonstrate good sportsmanship, whether winning or losing.

Accept referee, organisers, and committee decisions respectfully.

Encourage players of all skill levels.

Communicate in a constructive and appropriate manner.

2\. Behaviour Standards

The following behaviours will not be tolerated:

Verbal abuse, insults.

Harassment, intimidation, or bullying.

Threatening behaviour of any kind.

Aggressive conduct, including throwing equipment in anger.

Physical violence or any form of physical intimidation.

Excessive swearing or foul language.

3\. Safety and Wellbeing

Members must act in a manner that promotes a safe playing environment.

Players must follow venue rules and instructions from event organisers.

Any unsafe or inappropriate behaviour should be reported to a committee member as soon as possible.

4\. Attendance

If a member has booked and does not show on 3 separate occasions, they may be removed from further sessions until it is determined that they are taking responsibility for their bookings.

5\. Disciplinary Action

Breaches of this Code of Conduct will be taken seriously.

Threatening behaviour, abuse, or physical violence may result in:

Immediate suspension from club activities while an investigation is conducted.

Temporary suspension for a determined period.

Permanent removal/ban from the club, if deemed necessary by the committee.

The committee reserves the right to determine appropriate action based on the severity of the incident and any prior conduct history.

6\. Responsibility

All members share responsibility for maintaining a positive club culture. If you witness behaviour that breaches this Code, please report it to a committee member promptly.

7\. Agreement

Participation in club activities constitutes agreement to comply with this Code of Conduct.

The Brisbane Bayside Pickleball Club runs weekly pickleball sessions at venues throughout the beautiful bayside suburbs of Brisbane.

Kickstart Class –  Beginner Entry Program Perfect for Beginners! 

Duration:  2 x 90 minute Sessions

Format: Coached - Small Group

Kickstart is the best way to start pickleball at Evolve. Designed specifically for beginners, these coached sessions introduce the fundamentals of the game in a welcoming, structured environment.

Players learn the basic rules, scoring, court positioning and core shots, with plenty of guided play to build confidence quickly. Kickstart is a short introductory program and naturally leads into membership for ongoing play.

Best for: Beginners, new players, or anyone wanting a proper introduction before joining a membership.

Building Skills Class 

Duration: 60 minute Sessions

Format: Coached training session

Building Skills sessions focus on improving technique, consistency and tactical understanding. Sessions include targeted drills, coach feedback and structured points to help players progress in a focused but enjoyable setting.

Sessions are grouped by standard where possible to ensure appropriate challenge and progression.

Best for:
Players looking to improve their skills, technique and confidence on court.

Social Matchplay

Duration: 90 minutes
Format: Organised matchplay, lightly hosted

Social Matchplay sessions are organised games designed to maximise court time, variety and enjoyment. Players rotate partners and opponents, with formats that encourage rallies and balanced play.

Standards are separated where possible (e.g. Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) to preserve quality of play.

Best for:
Players who enjoy social play, meeting new people and playing regular games.

Competition Matchplay

Duration: 90 minutes
Format: Organised Competitive Play

Competition Matchplay sessions offer structured, higher-intensity games for players who enjoy competition. Formats may include ladders, round robins or league-style play depending on the program.

These sessions focus on fair matchups, clear scoring and quality competition within a supportive club environment.

Best for:
Players who enjoy competitive play and want to challenge themselves.

Pickle Kids

Duration: 45 minutes

Format: Coached junior session

Pickle Kids is a fun, age-appropriate introduction to pickleball for children. Sessions focus on basic skills, coordination, movement and game understanding through engaging drills and modified games.

The emphasis is on enjoyment, confidence and developing a love for the sport.

Best for:
Kids new to pickleball or looking for a fun, active sport.

Private Court Hire 
Includes host, equipment, and music. Great for group bookings and casual play.

Format: Private court booking

Court hire allows players to book a court for private play outside programmed sessions. Court hire is not included in memberships, however Unlimited members receive discounted off-peak rates.

02MAR26: Court resurfacing has commenced and expected to reopen 20 Mar 26. No events scheduled for a few weeks. An email to all GPC members is forecast to be sent out by Voyager Tennis this evening advising of new schedule and how to book via the Voyager app. 

Group Credit Refunds: We are currently liaising with OpenSports Staff on how we can issue bulk credit card refunds for those members with a group credit in their GPC OpenSports account that will not be able to be used for new sessions now that bookings have been transferred to the Voyager app. From information to date, this is a new query for their software team so no firm date on when we will be able to action this. Cheers.

We are a pickleball club that was started in 2019.

We play on outdoor courts in Eastwood (Brush Farm Netball Courts), Hunters Hill (Boronia Park), Putney (Morrison Bay Park), Denistone East (Kings Park) and at an indoor venue in Ryde (Ryde Aquatic Centre). Note, events at Putney are not listed on this site; members simply turn up to play at the sessions.

We typically run sessions daily, in the mornings and evenings (or afternoons on weekends) and we accommodate players aged 12 and upwards. We cater for players of all skill levels; from people who have never picked up a paddle before, to players who compete for and claim Australian titles.

We offer a variety of events, which includes social play, beginner and intermediate drill sessions, advanced play, women's only session, interclub experiences and leagues. Our club is affiliated with Pickleball NSW and Pickleball Australia and we currently have over 800 members. We try to keep our sessions affordable for our members and we would love more members to join us.

Social Grading Details

At SUNS, we use a Social Grading system for all events. By default, all new players will be graded as New Player and can attend select beginner friendly events to learn the game! 

Otherwise, Social Grades are defined as: 

New Player \[DUPR 1.5-1.99] Learning rules, scoring, and basic shots

Standard \[DUPR 2.0-2.49] Consistent rallies, developing court awareness

Intermediate \[DUPR 2.5-2.99] Strategic play, good positioning, consistent shots

Challenger \[DUPR 3.0-3.49] Advanced tactics, strong all-round game, competitive

Advanced \[DUPR 3.5+] Tournament-level skills, strategic mastery
